Day 2: Pollensa – Lluc Monastery
- Riding time: 4-5 hours.
- Altitude gain: around 1,600 feet
- Total distance: 12-15 miles
Rise and Shine to Mallorca, Spain! Your first official day of adventure awaits you! This beautiful day will begin with a nice gentle Hatha/Vinyassa Flow Yoga Class to settle in and embrace this day! After our practice, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast and get prepared for our first Mountain Bike Ride!
We are partnered with Chainguide MTB company and they will arrive to pick us up and get us set up with everything needed to be 100% ready for the adventure ahead of us. Today’s ride is a great route for the first day. It is really flexible in terms of distance and riding level. It’s a great ride to get warmed up for all the riding ahead of us for the week!.
Starting from the picturesque village of Pollensa, we take a short ride through the beautiful downtown before heading towards the Lluc Monastery. The first part of our adventure consists of gravel roads and singletrack, riding along some beautiful fincas (farms) with green and colorful fields and some very impressive mountains in the background. This is a good warm-up before moving into the long but steady uphill climb ahead. As we start climbing, we will discover some pretty amazing views of Port de Pollensa. The first part of this tour ends at the Lluc Monastery. This place is a museum now and it has a couple of small Cafés (restaurants) where we can stop for lunch or just coffe, snacks and a little break. After we reload our batteries, it’s time to return to Pollensa. We have already done the toughest part and it’s mostly downhill for the second part of the tour. Depending on the group’s level, we can descend on gravel fire roads or spice things up and ride through some rocky hiking paths with lots of fun features (rock gardens, switchbacks, steps, etc.).
After our first adventure out riding, we will head back to the hotel to rest and relax and then head out to have dinner at the Mandala restaurant in the central of Alaro!
DAY 3: Artà (Parc Natural de Llevant)
- Riding time: 3-4 hours
- Total distance: 12-15 miles
- Altitude gain: 1,500 feet
For the second day, we will set out to experience one of the most beautiful rides on the whole island! We start with a nice smooth climb on asphalt/gravel roads to warm up the legs and lungs. Having a nice chill warm-up will let us enjoy the beautiful surroundings and stunning views. The views are truly breathtaking! Beautiful rocky hills and turquoise water along the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea. From this point, you can see the trail descending all the way to a gorgeous little secluded beach. Good news; that’s where we are heading to! The ride down is a slightly rocky path with switchbacks that allows us to enjoy the magical views from different angles. At the end of this amazing downhill, we arrive to an incredibly beautiful beach (S’Arenalet d’Aubarca). It is very hard to access so it’s not very common to see people around. It is highly recommended that everyone should bring a swimsuit in their backpack because many of us will feel like jumping into the water after all of the effort and sweat from today’s ride! After a nice swim/lunch, we will continue riding along the coast for a few hundred meters before heading back to the starting point. We will take a different route on the way back which consists of a mix between singletrack and gravel roads. Opposite to most of the other routes, we leave the hard climbing for the end today. Some sections are steep and challenging but the views are completely worth it.
For dinner this eve we will dine at the lovely & cozy restaurant called Santosha. Your tastebuds will be delighted with the amazing healthy & fresh food!
DAY 4: Alcúdia (Talaia de la Victoria)
- Riding time: 3-4 hours
- Total distance: 20-25 km
- Altitude gain: 240 m
Another glorious day in Spain awaits us! After arising, we will begin with a sweet & inspiring Yoga class followed by a nice breakfast at C;an Pep. Then it’s time to gear up for a fun filled day on the bikes. This marks the half-way point of the trip!
We start at Chainguide’s shop in Alcúdia which will give us a chance to do bike adjustments & give them a little extra TLC if needed. First we will head out on a nice cruisy section along the coast and through some urban areas. There are a few spots in this route where we normally stop to do some skill sessions & activities. We will continue towards the Talaia de la Victoria, another beautiful natural reserve. This is a very relaxed ride all the way to the Refugio de Coll Baix, where we get a fantastic view towards a beautiful “secret” beach (Platja des Coll Baix). We will stop here for a little chill time and opportunity to enjoy this beautiful beach, On the way back we can make a group decision upon the two options of return; flowy gravel roads mixed up with some fun and slightly technical (intermediate) trails or we pimp it up and start a steep hiking with the bikes on the shoulders all the way up to the Coll de Na Benet. The reward: An impressive 360 degrees view right between Port de Pollensa and Port de Alcúdia. It is definately worth the challenge! Once up and on the other side, a panoramic view towards the Sierra Tramuntana awaits! At this point we have earned our descent. A trail with everything that we love about mountain biking: flow, singletrails, rocks, switchbacks and of course, awesome views. which is sure to guarantee an adrenaline kick and an enormous smile plastered on everyones faces. On the way back to the shop, we will find some beautiful rocky beaches with small cliffs. If it’s a hot day, we can take a break here and jump into the water to cool down or keep rollin back.
Tonight’s evening entails a catered meal at Ca’n Pep to give you a chance to chill & take a stroll around Alaro before dinner that will be awaiting you!
Day 5: Rest & Rejuvenate ~ Spa & Beach Day!
Today is going to be a real treat for tired legs & sore bodies! We will start with breakfast at Ca’pep and then head 45 minutes up into the hills to Bettina Papenkort’s Indigo Spa in the beautiful hills of Alaró. This is an idyllic location with beautiful natural gardens, salt water infinity pool, that even has it’s very own Teepee. We will practice Yoga here with the beautiful mountain views surrounding us. Bettina herself and Jany Doyle will treat you to a Swedish Massage and you will have the morning to enjoy the gardens, pool, and time to rest & relax.
After this dreamy morning, it only gets better! Off to Port de Soller, a gorgeous location offering a range of activities to do. You are free to go for a hike, rent a paddle board and get out on the water, bask in the sun, swim in the crystal blue water of the Meditarrean or just stroll the pretty main square lined with cafes, stunning architecture and charming Port. Feel free to “DO YOU” and embark on whatever you are feeling for the afternoon! We can go as a group or if you need some “YOU” time, this is your day! 🙂
Dinnner will delight your taste buds at the famous restaurant that is set on the quayside, overlooking the yachts in the beautiful Port de Soller, You will not be disappointed!
DAY 6: Bunyola (Sa Comuna)
- Riding time: 3 hours
- Total distance: 22-26 km
- Altitude gain: 500 m
Here we go, back to the saddle on on the bikes! The legs should be rested up and ready after a nice chill Spa & Beach day! As usual, we will kickoff the day with a sweet & inspiring Yoga Class followed by breakfast at C’an Pep. Then off to explore another day on the amazing Island of Mallorca!
Today we will ride the singletrack of Sa Comuna de Bunyola, a popular MTB spot with the locals. In the old days, the “comunas” were places where people used to gather/buy their supplies, especially wood charcoal and limestone cement. The remaining ruins in the area are clear evidence of these ancient economic activities.
This is a protected area and that makes it a very special place. Car access is limited and most people visit the place for a nice weekend picnic with the family, hiking, climbing or mountain biking. The trails are SUPER fun and they will be hard to disappoint! After a long but steady climb overlooking Palma de Mallorca, we reach the highest point: a massive vertical cliff with amazing views towards the Orient Valley. Just arriving to this view is completely worth the hard work. On the way back, we have a some rocky and gnarly singletrack to challenge us (always with the option to walk sections), mixed with some flowy sections into the forest. The last section is probably the best way to finish a ride: a long fast and flowy trail with some rocky/technical sections that will really make you wanna climb the whole thing one more time!
After our return and relaxation to C’an Pep, we will make a group decision on where to dine given many choices to explore and agree upon! This gives some flexibility & options for the group to decide!
DAY 7: Esporles – Port Des Canonge
- Riding time: 4-5 hours
- Total distance: 25-30 km
- Altitude gain: 480 m
Just when you thought you had seen everything, we leave some of the best trails for the last day. Esporles is a charming and cozy village, but the riding in this area is even better. Starting slowly and riding through some gentle uphills with a few rock gardens, we begin to discover some magical views towards the coast. It’s time now to start descending to Port Des Canonge on some of the most fun and natural singletrails you can find in Mallorca. Packed with flow, narrow corners and steep and rocky sections. After a fun and exciting downhill, we arrive to Port des Canonge, an almost secret and hard to access tiny village that will take your breath away. Riding along the coast, enjoying the red soil and the deep blue balearic waters, we head towards another beautiful village called Banyalbufar. A truly unique village with terraced fields and sea views. From this point, we start our climb back to Esporles. A long and challenging uphill that pays off with the beautiful views from the whole valley. But, it’s not just pain and suffering on the way back. We finish with a fast and fun downhill all the way back to the heart of Esporles. Right on time to have an after ride drink or coffee at the main square.
And for the grand finale, we will head back to Port de Soller to dine at one of the best restaurants in Soller! Ca’n BoQueta offers a unique & impressive menu that will delight your tastebuds! We will dine on the outdoor patio to watch the beautiful sunset over the mountains. Afterwards, we head back for a restful sleep to prepare for your travels home!
